Jordan Mian's Referral & Update Pictures

Welcome to our journal about adopting Jordan Jennifer Mian Petrie. Jordan, whose current name is Guan Mian (last, first), turned 2 years old on Saturday, September 30th. She is currently residing in the Dongguan Children's Welfare Institute in the province of Guangzhou, People's Republic of China.

This is Jordan's Referral Picture taken in November of 2005 when she was just one year old.

Our friend Anli (and Cradle of Hope's facilitator in China) visited Mian in the orphanage in June 2006 and took an updated photo of Mian(2nd picture). We think she looks wonderful! Notice they shaved Mian's head - not uncommon in a Chinese orphanage where there are many, many children.

We work with Cradle of Hope Adoption Center in Silver Spring, MD for the international part of the adoption. This is our third adoption with them, and they always do a great job. We chose Mian from Cradle's list of Waiting Children with special needs. Mian's "special need" is that she had a congenital deformity of her feet (two big toes on each foot!) called polydactyly, and she has two fingers that are attached together on her right hand. Both of these issues will be evaluated and corrected once we come home. Otherwise Mian has no known health issues.

We submitted our Letter of Intent to Adopt Mian in March 2006, updated our homestudy, applied to Immigration to bring home another child in April 2006 , compiled our dossier in May 2006, and submitted it in June 2006. It took 90 days to receive travel approval from China. So now we are preparing to go to China to bring Jordan home. We are all traveling - Jeff, Lori, Sydney and Jay!
